ਹਰੇਕ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਲਈ ਬੜੇ ਹੀ ਫਖ਼ਰ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ, ਭਾਰਤ ਦਾ ਅਜਿਹਾ ਪਹਿਲਾ ਸੂਬਾ
ਹੈ ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੈਰੀਟੋਰੀਅਸ ਸਕੂਲ ਸਫ਼ਲਤਾ ਨਾਲ ਚਲਾਏ ਜਾ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਜਿੱਥੇ
ਲੋੜਵੰਦ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਫ਼ਤ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਕੂਲ
ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਬੋਰਡ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਐਲਾਨੇ ਬਾਰਵੀਂ ਦੇ ਨਤੀਜਿਆਂ 'ਚ ਮੈਰੀਟੋਰੀਅਸ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ ਦੇ 23
ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਮੈਰਿਟ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਏ ਹਨ। ਮੈਰੀਟੋਰੀਅਸ ਸਕੂਲਾਂ 'ਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਮੁਫ਼ਤ
ਹੋਸਟਲ, ਭੋਜਨ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਤੀਯੋਗਤਾ ਪ੍ਰੀਖਿਆਵਾਂ ਲਈ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੇ।
ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਸਮੇਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੂਬੇ ਦੇ 7 ਮੈਰੀਟੋਰੀਅਸ ਸਕੂਲ 4850 ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ
ਨੂੰ 'ਫੈਲੇ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਚਾਨਣ ਹੋਇ' ਨਾਹਰੇ ਹੇਠ ਵਿੱਦਿਆ ਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਆਉਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਸਮੇਂ 'ਚ
ਸਰਕਾਰ ਸੰਗਰੂਰ, ਫਿਰੋਜ਼ਪੁਰ ਤੇ ਗੁਰਦਾਸਪੁਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਤਿੰਨ ਹੋਰ ਮੈਰੀਟੋਰੀਅਸ ਸਕੂਲ
ਖੋਲਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ।
An immense honour for every Punjabi as
Punjab become the first state in India to successfully run meritorious
schools where free education is imparted to the poor and brilliant
students. The facilities in these meritorious schools extended to
brilliant students include free hostel, food and special coaching for
the competitive examination. Existing 7 meritorious schools have already
being imparting free education to the 4850 students of the state and 3
more Residential schools for meritorious students coming up at Sangrur,
Ferozepur and Gurdaspur.
